Congressman Bishop Visits Salisbury VA Medical Center

February 20, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Dan Bishop (NC-09) visited the W. G. Hefner Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Salisbury, North Carolina to tour the facility and receive a briefing from the director on the state of veteran care.

"On my tour, I was pleased to see an emphasis on veteran quality of life at the Salisbury VAMC, including a family-focused environment with dignified hospice care and specialized therapy dogs for a wide range of conditions," said Rep. Bishop. "Congress has a major role in ensuring veteran healthcare meets the high standards Americans should demand and visiting VAMC facilities in the Ninth District helps me be an active veteran advocate," said Bishop.

Rep. Bishop discussed ongoing challenges for veteran care with the director, including the delay in implementing the VA Mission Act, which would significantly expand the Department of Veterans Affairs caregivers' program. If you are a veteran or know one with a casework issue in North Carolina's Ninth Congressional District, please reach out to Congressman Bishop's office for assistance at (704) 218- 5300.
