WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Dan Bishop (NC-09) met with students nominated for the United States Service Academies over the weekend.

Rep. Bishop met with the 28 young men and women who applied to service academies from North Carolina’s Ninth Congressional District, including the U.S. Air Force Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, Naval Academy, and Military Academy at West Point.

“These elite students represent some of the best North Carolina has to offer,” said Rep. Bishop. “It takes a strong work ethic and a dedication to service to apply to these academies, and I am confident that these students will be the leaders of the next generation.”

The group is the first class of students Rep. Bishop has nominated for the academies since he took office in September, 2019. Four of the five U.S. Service Academies require students to receive a nomination from their congressman to apply, in addition to maintaining excellent grades and extracurriculars.
