Bishop Votes Against Democrats’ Reckless Continuing Resolution

December 2, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Dan Bishop (NC-09) voted against Democrats' short-term continuing resolution (CR), H.R. 6119, that keeps unconstitutional vaccine mandates in place and dangerously spends Billions of dollars to resettle unvetted Afghan refugees:

"Democrats' continuing resolution is truly government at its worst. This short-term CR does not tackle the real issues facing this country, but it does add a few new ones. Rather than uphold Americans' liberties, this CR gives a stamp of approval for unconstitutional vaccine mandates. Democrats also added $7 Billion in additional spending to resettle Afghan refugees throughout our country. This is reckless, as the Democrats are just throwing more money at the problem they created without even vetting these refugees to ensure Americans' safety. The provisions in this deal are both irresponsible and radical, and I will never be supporting something like this," said Rep. Dan Bishop.

The continuing resolution provides that federal government funding will remain at the levels set forth in H.R. 133, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021. While the CR does not make substantive changes to existing policy, it contains an additional $7 billion for importing unvetted Afghan refugees and allows unconstitutional vaccine mandates to remain in place. The CR will expire on February 18, 2022.
