Bishop Applauds Court Ruling on Atlantic Coast Pipeline, Jobs for Cumberland, Robeson

June 22, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Dan Bishop (NC-09) applauded the United States Supreme Court's decision upholding the creation of the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, which will bring hundreds of jobs to North Carolina's Ninth Congressional District.

The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the United States Forest Service's authority to create the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. Last December, Rep. Bishop joined Rep. Jeff Duncan (SC-03) on an amicus brief supporting its construction.

"The Atlantic Coast Pipeline increases domestic energy production of renewable energy while making everyday consumption of heat, electricity and gas affordable for Americans. Despite attempts to revoke its numerous environmental clearances, its authority was affirmed. I look forward to the 800 new, well-paying jobs this pipeline will bring to my district," said Rep. Bishop.

The Atlantic Coast Pipeline stretches through North Carolina into Cumberland County and ends in Robeson County. Its construction is expected to create 17,000 new jobs and inject $2.7 billion in economic activity throughout West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.
