Bishop Announces Winner of Congressional App Challenge

Washington, D.C.—Congressman Dan Bishop announced the winner of the 2020 Congressional App Challenge for the Ninth District. Akshra Paimagam, a senior at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics who hails from Charlotte, won the competition for her "MammoAnalyzer" app. The MammoAnalyzer assists individuals in diagnosing breast cancer.

"Congratulations to Akshra Paimagam, whose ingenuity and dedication won her this prestigious award.I'm very pleased that our district saw another very successful competition this year," said Rep. Bishop."This challenge produced the highest number of entries yet. I want to thank all those who participated and used this opportunity to build on their coding skills," concluded Bishop.

Ms. Paimagam's app will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol and featured on the Congressional App Challenge website along with winning apps from other districts.

Additionally, Ms. Paimagam has been invited to attend the House of Code reception honoring this year's winners, which shall be held virtually. The Congressional App Challenge is an annual competition that encourages middle and high school students to learn to code. Since its launch in 2015, over 9,000 students have participated.
