Bishop Announces $2M Grant for Scotland Co Startups

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Dan Bishop (NC-09) announced a $2 million grant from the Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA) for the construction of a new business incubator in Laurinburg to promote North Carolina's startups.

"This $2 million grant will amplify ongoing efforts by local officials to spur economic growth in Scotland County," said Rep. Bishop "Thanks to the tireless work of local leaders and the focus of the Administration on empowering local economies, this grant will benefit not only Laurinburg, but the whole of North Carolina as our entrepreneurs thrive."

The grant is part of the Industrial Incubator Project and is projected to create 300 new jobs and $10 million in private investment. This award, funded by the Additional Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Act of 2019, is intended bolster the county's economy, manufacturing industry, and natural disaster resiliency.
